West Park v Sefton Gunners

Confidence was high on Sunday despite travelling to the heart of rugby league country for what was expected to be a great game.

The under 7’s got things started and were unlucky to concede a try early on.
Sefton’s youngest player, Connor O’Sullivan showed the rest of the team what a perfect pass should look like with the restart and Sefton were on the attack.  Some excellent support running from Luke Driscoll, Adam Rohan, Jack Hughes and Bradley Neve moved play deep into the West Park half but Sefton lacked the finishing and possession was handed over to the opposition following a sixth tackle.

Lewis Campbell was Sefton’s only try scorer in the first half with an excellent score under pressure.

The second half was a much closer affair with some excellent tags from all players.  A hat trick from Sam Addley took his tally to 50 for the season and Hannah Gough came close but was denied by a tag.  Her excellent support running, consistent tagging and sure handling earned her the deserved title, player of the match.

The under 8’s took to the field and showed their hard work in training with some excellent passing and brilliant runs towards the opposition line (which is more unusual than it sounds!)

Captain James Daniels led the team and along with Scott Heritage and Thomas Corcoran commanded the defensive line well.

Liam Westwater went over the line for Sefton’s first try which was well deserved.

Defence was excellent with Ross Davis, Lewis Grierson and Shaun Nunnen showing tagging skills letting no one pass.

Half time saw a few changes and Michael Wallace, Charlie Martin and Adam Dealing provided some much needed forward momentum which culminated in a try for Danny Revell.

Debutant Owen Reading made some excellent tags and helped deny West Park a try.

Once again, Danny Revell’s hard work both with ball in hand and in defence, excellent forward runs and communication earned him player of the match.

come on where are the photos? ED.
